AFL-CIO Workers' Memorial Day 2006

The Workers' Memorial Day Ceremony in Hartford CT took place on the steps of the State Capitol at 10 a.m.  Bristol Labor Council President, Mike Petosa was the Master of Ceremonies. After the Presentation of Colors,  Secretary - Treasurer CT AFL-CIO, Lori Pelletier led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by greetings and remarks from the Mayor of Hartford, Eddie Perez and President CT AFL-CIO, John Olson.

Guest Speakers included: Carol Shea, widow of John Shea, 35 year worker at Pratt and Whitney who died of brain cancer; Kathleen Mugford & Kim Sheehan, widow and daughter of Robert Mugford,  D.O.T. Crewleader struck and killed on Route 7 in Norwalk; Steve Perruccio, President CT Employees Union Independent; John Fernandes, President IBEW Local 457; Donald Williams, President Pro Tempore CT State Senate; Debra Belancik, Chairperson ConnectiCOSH.

Worker's Memorial day is celebrated on April 28th. It's a day to remember our fellow workers that have been seriously injured or and died while on the job.
